Words – old & new
This valentine instead of the usual partying, eating out etc extravagance I went straight home after work. Home to rest, to recharge, to clear my head by putting down in words the thoughts that are circling in my head. And I caught up with my readings, which is where the “Be you” post came from. Seems like Valentines Day is as good as any other day to catch up with the fact that you need to love yourself first. The whole experience put a new twist on the meaning of the word ‘self-love’ for me, specially since people around me were so intent on spending money they didn’t have, doing things that won’t mean anything afterwards.
The past week has been hectic. Maddeningly hectic. But it has also brought me two things: the realization that my time is limited and so are my efforts… while I enjoy being involved in multiple activites simultaneously, there is only so much that I can & want to do REALLY well. Second, in life, there is no limit to learning, experiencing new things, if only we sieze the opportunities as they arise.
So far all my mentors have been from my own professional fields. However this week, I got a new mentor!! Someone who is at the top of his field, world-class and there isn’t enough space here to write down his accomplishments. Can you feel my excitement? It’s like a whole new world just opened up and I am a kid let loose in a candy store with a free pass to all the candies I want 😀 I am so excited about this opportunity to learn from the Grandmaster about a whole different range of subjects and you know what I wish for the most? Spiritual growth.
A word that I actually had to look up in the dictionary 😛 This is something that I am taking a stab at over the next couple of months. When the book comes out, you will be sure to hear about it 🙂 Meanwhile I still have a lot of sittings and a lot of reading to do to get the tone, the subject ingrained to be able to write about it. A new hobby that I am really enjoying.
Just saw this on FB and I love the word and obviously its meaning…… finally… finally… a single word instead of a long explanation 🙂
