Less is more?
While browsing through some interior decoration websites I couldn’t help noticing that the main mantra in decorating seems to be less is more.
We are trying to have less furniture, less clutter and yet in real life we end up cluttering every available hour in the day with activities. I know parents who send their kids to weekend classes for music, arts, dancing… you name it .. the kids are busy doing it. Among all these activities when do kids get the time to be just kids? When do we get the time to just be?
In a time of excess activities and minimal furniture … we seem to be losing touch with who we are and what we would really rather do with our time. I would much prefer that my son spend his free time reading books and napping and playing with other kids, then schedule 10 different activities to give him a better start in life and all the opportunities it has. After hectic week’s at work, I would much rather spend my time on the weekends curling up with a new book and a cup of tea, then running from one activity to another.
Just like the chairs in this website…. I want flexibility in my time, multi-functional but minimalist outlook 🙂
