In way over your head?
Equally applicable to both individuals and companies. When a company fails to meet its targets and deadlines repeatedly, perhaps it should step back and have a look at why its failing and whether it has bitten off more than it can chew.
On an individual level, I have been in situations where I thought I was in way over my head but then again, in rising to the challenge and meeting it head on I have also managed to improve my own capability.
One very important lesson that I learned from my first boss in Ericsson, if you mess up, fess up. The longer you try to hide it, the worst it will get. It is much more desirable and easier on the long run to fess up to a mistake, take all steps to fix it asap and minimize the damage. However this is easier to do when one has a supportive boss. I do not mind getting chewed at by my boss as long as I know that at the end of the day, when the chips are down, He/She is on my camp and has my best interest at heart.
