Here’s something I found somewhere that I actually religiously followed (had it printed and taped in my cubicle so I wouldn’t forget it):
Six financial milestones before 30
1. Scale back the credit cards.
2. Own a home – or have a plan.
3. Have skills
4. Give money away
5. Know thyself
6. Know smart people
Because I have had this taped up right next to my monitor at my desk for the past 2 years, I actually managed to achieve 90% of them by the time I turned 30. Owning a home took a bit more time, about 6 months AFTER I turned 30, yet it was still years earlier than most others in my circle.
Here’s something else that I learned – when I intend to do something, I have to articulate that intention, I have to keep repeating that intention to myself, remind myself frequently and most of all, I really have to believe in it for my intention to come true. My dreams didn’t come true because I was lucky. I was lucky because I prepared and worked hard to be lucky.
